Epson UltraChrome DG2 ink was developed for direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film (DTF) production. It features an enhanced formulation that enables operation with a wider range of media with improved colour and definition with less bleed. The ink adheres best to fabric with a moderate-loose weave and high cotton content. It will work with a range of natural, man-made, and mixed fibre fabrics, however results may vary. It does not tend to adhere well to fabric with a fine weave, an extremely smooth finish, treatment with a water or dirt repellent however results may improve through use of a DTF workflow. DTF results will vary depending on the fabric, film and powder selection. In all cases customers are strongly recommended to perform print and wash durability testing before commencing volume production on new fabric types or using a new workflow.

Epson DG2 ink features a formulation that is Diethylene Glycol-free to ensure a safer work environment for operators. When affixed to fabric, garments meet the requirements of the Oeko-Tex Eco Passport standard for safe use by adults, children, and babies up to 36 months. The standard belongs to the International Association for Research and Testing in the field of Textile Ecology (Oeko-Tex) with customers recommended to review the relevant website for further information.

Ink ships in pouches that are quick to load and easy to replace. Pouches should be used before the date specified on the packaging and once opened, consumed within one year. For optimum results it is recommended they be removed daily and shaken vigorously before reinsertion. To ensure reliable operation, Epson DTG printers undertake continuous self-cleaning and ink recirculation. While printers can be switched off for periods of time, if equipment is not expected to be used for a period of more than a week then it is recommended that they be left on. If the printer is to be moved or not expected to be used for a period of several weeks then it is recommended that the extended shutdown process be performed. For further information owners are recommended to review their user guide and regularly check online for updates.
